Invest in the Future of Learning
We are building the school that so many Sacramento families have been longing for: A joyful, inclusive, project-based learning community for curious, capable kids.
Sacramento Community School is a new, small-by-design progressive school where children are deeply known, trusted, and supported across lines of identity, ability, and experience; a place where curiosity leads, play is core to learning, and emotional growth is just as important as academics.
We have already formed our nonprofit, gathered a passionate team of families and educators, and begun the search for the perfect campus. Now we need your help to bring this vision to life!
LISTENING TO CHILDREN AND BUILDING SOMETHING NEW
Sacramento is growing rapidly, and school options haven’t kept pace with what today’s kids really need. Families tell us the same things again and again:
They want a community that welcomes diverse learners and diverse families with warmth and respect.
They want hands-on, real-world learning, not worksheets and test prep.
They want a school that takes social and emotional development seriously, not as an add-on.
They want a learning space that is neuro-affirming, flexible, and responsive to student interests and needs.
2E students, who are both intellectually gifted and have learning differences, often face mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, and increased risk for suicidal thoughts. The heightened risk underscores the urgent need for specialized support for 2E students. Sacramento has no dedicated 2E programs and few neuro-affirming learning spaces.
It just so happens that the same strategies that help 2E learners thrive, create a better education for all kids. Inspired by progressive schools across the country, we are bringing that same spirit of warmth, innovation, and whole-child learning to our own community.
There is nothing like this here.
HOW YOUR SUPPORT BRINGS THIS TO LIFE
This is more than a school. It is a movement to reimagine what education can be. We use a whole-child framework and consider a student's unique interests, strengths and struggles together to create personalized learning pathways. This structure allows learners to progress at their own pace, while receiving support, challenge, and inspiration from peers and mentors alike.
Your donation will help us open our doors in September. It will also…
Energize our community and legitimize our work in a powerful way by immediately activating the momentum our team has built - making it certain that we will welcome an inaugural cohort in 2026.
Support facility costs such as deposits, insurance, and site evaluations - green lighting our ability to secure a learning space with the safety features, outdoor access, and flexible rooms that allow our program to truly function at its best.
Expand our sliding scale capacity - ensuring that every child has access, regardless of family income.
Spark family-led fundraising efforts - supplying the furniture, outdoor structures, instructional materials, and accessibility supports needed to create a fully equipped learning environment.
Cover administrative and legal fees - establishing our nonprofit status and securing 501(c)(3) designation.
Fund curriculum development, materials, teacher training rooted in whole-child, experiential learning, community outreach events, technology, website, and communication tools - allowing us to reach, teach, and organize our growing community.
Above all, help us overcome the “chicken-and-egg” challenge of needing to hire staff before opening our doors. This will put us in a position to confidently launch and honorably commit to our teachers.
SCS is our way of bringing research and generations of progressive education wisdom into a living, breathing school for real children and families in this region. Sacramento NEEDS a school built on connection, community, and heart.
If you’ve ever wished there was a school where your child, or a child you love, could be fully themselves, learn with joy, and be prepared for a complex, changing world…
This is your chance to help build it.
Thank you, truly, for reading, and sharing. With your support, we can create something life changing for children and families in our city.
